Well, it has almost been a week since we had to say goodbye to our Shaft. He did an amazing job as a Tripawd for a year and a half! Way longer than we even hoped for! But he was tired and the last few weeks were rough so we threw him an amazing exit party; new york strip steaks, bacon, cookies, visitors and as always a massage to top it off.
Thank you all for the advice and support during his surgery and recovery and over the past year.

I just went back and caught up on all Shaft’s blogs. Don’t know how I missed them the first go ’round.
First of all, what a handsome boy! And clearly a very loved boy!
Thirteen years young and loved every second of every day! I know the void will seem unbearable for awhile and the routine of caring for your tripawd is a habit hard to break. We are all family here and we understand the intensity of grief like no others can
We also understand the joy of having Shsft with you for thousands snd thousands of days. Those are the memories Shaft wants you to think about…he sure is!
I’m sure when Shaft got tonthe Bridge, he still jad bacon and steak on his breath. You can be assured all the dogs were giving him sloppy kisses as a result!!
When you can, we would love to hear more about Shaft AND see pictures!

Drats. I’m really sad to read this, I remember your previous post like it was yesterday.
Shaft was SO lucky to have such great humans cheering him on and looking out for him to make sure he had a pawesome life up until the very end. Rest assured his spirit will never fade but burn even brighter to remind you of all the goodness he was here to teach you. What a gift.
