This freaked him out a little bit, I don’t think he digs the confined space or it could just be a new scary experience. He did it though!

Way to go Shaft! Keep up the goo work. 🙂
Aww poor guy. His face. He’s not so thrilled.
You DID IT Shaft! Rock and Roll!
WTG Shaft! Hope you learn to love, or at least tolerate it!
Whadda brave and handsome boy!! First time my quad GSD, Logan, went on an underwater treadmill he took a couple steps, stopped, and floated himself off the back and just stood there with his HAH HAH HAH face on. Actually, he did that every time he got the chance – HATED the treadmill – LOVED the pool. Hope Shaft gets more comfortable with the movement – it’s such GREAT exercise. He’s just gorgeous!
Go Shaft! Just FYI, I have a 10-year-old, 40-lb mixed breed who is a front leg amputee (was an injured stray 9 years ago). He is doing water treadmill to recuperate from ACL surgery, but his front leg has significant arthritis. To minimize the wear-and-tear on that front leg, our physical therapist built a small wooden platform that goes across the tank, with short strips of wood under each side to raise it slightly above the moving treadmill. I stand astride him above his shoulders, and hold him in place so his front leg can stand still on the platform while his back legs do the walking. The therapist stands behind both of us. It’s been working great, so I thought I’d pass the idea along in case it helps Shaft!
Awesome, thanks for the info. He had a second go today and did really well although there is still a bit of griping about the whole situation. Last time they put his front paw up on a disk so only his back legs had to work. I like the idea of the wooden platform though because that would be more stable. I will bring it up at our next visit.
Thanks again!
